The flow monitor safely and reliably protects all machinery, equipment and systems for which a constant, minimum flow rate is essential. Water cycles as well as flow and cooling systems remain monitored.

Mode of operation

The flow monitor functions independently of pressure, according to the rotameter principle. The float contains permanent magnets. A protective-gas contact (reed contact) is placed in an adjustable switch housing outside the flow cycle. Physical laws of gravity and magnetism provide for high operational reliability. There are no fatigue- or repair-prone parts such as springs, gear sets, levers, membranes etc.

According to the employed principle, the device must be installed vertically. - Flow from bottom to top. The float is lifted by the medium flowing in. Once the float and its permanent magnets reach the desired switching level, the electrical contact closes and the device is ready for operation (normally-open function / standard). It remains operational even if the influx increases. This does not apply in the case of reduced influx or total failure (pump damage, pipe rupture, pipe cross-section narrowing due to deposits, etc.). In such cases, the float drops below the switching point set by the user, and the protective-gas contact (reed contact) opens again. - An alarm function is included. The flow monitor can also be equipped with a normally-closed or changeover function. A number of different (maximum of 3) contacts can be attached on request .
